Subject + is, am, are + Verb-ing
ประธาน + is, am, are + กริยาเติม
ing I + am+ กริยาเติม ing
He + is+ กริยาเติม ing
They + are+ กริยาเติม
ing
1. ใช้กล่าวเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นขณะที่พูดอยู่
ซึ่งอาจจะมีคำเหล่านี้

⇒ now ตอนนี้
⇒ right now ตอนนี้
⇒ at the moment ตอนนี้
at this moment
 หลักการเติม ing หลังคำกริยา

เติม ing ท้ายกริยาช่องที่ 1 ได้ทันทีสำหรับ

กริยาทั่วไป เช่น ทำงาน
work --- working อ่าน
read
watch
--- reading ดู
--- watching ร้องเพลง
sing --- singing

***แต่กริยาบางพวกมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปก่อน
เติม ing พอจะสรุปเป็ นกฏได้ดังนี้
1. คำพยางค์เดียว มีสระ (vowel) ตัวเดียว
ลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะ (consonat) ตัวเดียว
ต้องเพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายเข้า
อีก 1 ตัว เเล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น
run --- running วิ่ง
stop --- stopping หยุด
put --- putting วาง
shut --- shutting ปิ ด
stir --- stirring คน,ผสมได้ทั่ว
beg --- begging ขอ,ขอร้อง
2. คำสองพยางค์ ซึ่งลงเสียงหนัก (stress) ที่
พยางค์ท้าย มีสระพยางค์ท้ายเพียงตัวเดียว
และลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะ
ตัวเดียว ต้องเพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายนั้นเข้าอีก
1 ตัว เเล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

begin --- beginning เริ่มต้น

forget --- forgetting ลืม
occur --- occurring เกิดขึ้น
 แต่ถ้าลงเสียงหนักพยางค์แรก ไม่ต้อง
เพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายอีก เช่น

cover --- covering ปกคลุม

edit --- editing จัดการ
 3. คำลงท้ายด้วย l ( มีสระตัวเดียว ต้องเพิ่ม l เข้าอีก
ตัวหนึ่งเเล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

travel --- travelling เดินทาง

control --- controlling ควบคุม
fulfil --- fulfilling ทำให้สำเร็จ
ยกเว้น

parallel paralleling ทำให้ขนานกัน

4. คำลงท้ายด้วย e เเละไม่ออกเสียง e ให้ตัด e
ออกเเล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

bite --- biting กัด

take --- taking เอา,เอาไป
move --- moving เคลื่อนไหว
make --- making ทำ
come --- coming มา
pursue --- pursuing ติดตาม
5 . คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย ee , ye และ oe ให้
เติม ing ได้เลย

agree - agreeing เห็นด้วย

see - seeing เห็น
flee - fleeing หนี)
dye - dyeing ย้อมสี
tiptoe - tiptoeing เดินย่อง, เดินด้วย
ปลายเท้า
6. คำลงท้าย ie เปลี่ยน ie นั้นเป็ น y ก่อน
แล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

die --- dying ตาย

tie --- tying ผูก,มัด
lie --- lying นอนลง
*** 7. คำลงท้าย w, x, y ให้เติม ing ได้เลย

fix --- fixing ซ่อม
play --- playing เล่น
