Location
Puerto Varas is a city and commune in the
southern part of Chile, located in the province
of Llanquihue belonging to the Los Lagos
region.
Climate
Ithas a rainy oceanic climate. Precipitation occurs
throughout the year, and is most intense in Winter and
especially spring in the southern hemisphere. In
summer it is mild whit maximum temperatures that
rarely exceed 30°C, sometimes temperatures close to
35°C can occurs. During the winter, in turn, the
maximum temperatures typically fluctuate below 9°C
during June and July, occasionally reaching highs
close to 0°C; the most common range is between 9°C
and 6°C.
Economy  The city's economy is primarily based
on tourism and is recognized as one of
the most tourist-friendly cities in
southern Chile. It is also renowned for
its cuisine and sport fishing.
Gastronomy Puerto Varas is also known as "the City of Roses" due to the

profusion of rose bushes planted in its streets. Its cuisine is
renowned for German pastries, especially kuchen (cake),
cookies, cakes, handmade chocolates, and jams, as well as
traditional German dishes, which can be found in many of the
cafes, restaurants, and hotels in the area. There is also cuisine
associated with the meats of southern Chile, cured meats, and
beers made by descendants of German settlers.
Sport
 Basketball is the sport with the highest turnout in the
city, but it also has rugby and soccer teams.
