What’s
diabetes?
Diabetes is a noninfectious disease it
disturbs the normal balance of
glucose within and outside the
cell.

It’s a chronic disease that affects


how your body turns food into
energy.
Symptoms
• Thirst
• urination
• hunger
• weight loss
• changes in vision
• fatigue
• coma
How insulin operates?
• Insulin is produced by the beta cells in pancreas

• It moves in the blood stream, and it binds to protein receptors in the cells
which send a signal to the cell to open the glucose transport protein

Type l
• In type l of diabetes, The immune system mistakenly destroys the
beta cells in the pancreas which makes the body incapable of
producing insulin

• The exact cause of it is unknown, But it’s thought to be related to


genetics

• People with Type I diabetes must give themselves regular insulin


injections and carefully monitor their blood sugar levels and intake of
carbohydrates.

Type ll
• Type II diabetes occurs when the body either does not produce
enough insulin or specific cells are not responding to insulin.

• require insulin shots, while others take only an oral


medication and follow a healthy diet
