NAME OF TEACHER
¿WHAT IS A SQUARE
PYRAMID?
A quadrangular pyramid is a polyhedron whose
surface is formed by a base that is a quadrilateral and
triangular lateral faces that meet at a vertex called the
vertex (or vertex of the pyramid). It will be composed,
therefore, of 5 faces, the quadrangular base and four
lateral triangles that converge at the vertex.
SQUARE BASE PYRAMID
In geometry, a square pyramid or quadrangular
pyramid is a pyramid with a square base, unlike the
tetrahedron, whose base is triangular. If the vertex is
located exactly above the center of the square
(straight pyramid), the pyramid will have symmetry.
CHARACTERISTICS SQUARE BASE
PYRAMID
WE HAVE 7 CHARACTERISTICS AND THEY ARE:

 Vertex: It has 5 vertices.

 Edges: The square pyramid has 8 edges.

 Faces: It has 4 triangular faces and 1 quadrangular face.

 Base: has the shape of a quadrilateral, hence the name quadrangular

 IT IS A POLYHEDRON

 IT IS A POLYGON

 NOT A PRISM
ELEMENTS SQUARE BASE PYRAMID

THEY HAVE ONE

 Base (B): It is the only face that does not touch the vertex of the pyramid.

 Faces (C): are the triangles of the sides and the base.

 Edges (a): segments where two faces of the pyramid meet.

 Height (h): distance from the plane of the base to the top of the pyramid.

 Vertex of the pyramid (V): meeting point of the triangular lateral faces.

 Apothem of the pyramid (ap): is the height of the lateral faces.

 Apothem of the base (apb): distance from one side of the base to its center.
