Environmentally friendly chelating agent

Unlike other nitrogen based chelates, it is meets the requirements of

OECD for ready biodegradability.

Being a small molecule, it is a strong chelating agent and forms water

soluble complexes for a wide range of heavy metals.

• Methylglycinediacetic acid (MGDA) is

also known as glycine-N,N-diacetic acid.

• MGDA and its derivatives are prepared by

reacting glycine with formaldehyde and
alkali metal cyanide in aqueous alkaline
medium
