“ The Relationship Between

Using Social Media to the

Personality Development of
the Grade 12 HUMSS
Students in Naguilian
National High School ”
Background of the Study
 New types of social media have developed and are now widely used

due to the Internet. Users of social media and multidimensional platforms

can exchange information and discuss ideas by posting, commenting,

chatting, and performing other actions. Importantly, these platforms enable

quick knowledge access and information exchange, cost-effective and

simple communication, and the development of collaborative

environments. Social media not only facilitates learning, communication,

and collaboration, but it also provides supportive leisure and

 The key problem lies in the determining whether using social

media can positively and negatively influence their

personality development.

 The aim of this study is to explore The Relationship

Between Using Social Media to the Personality Development

of the Grade 12 HUMSS Students in Naguilian National High

media usage and the resultant changes in the personality traits, behaviors,
and social interactions of these students, with a focus on understanding
the potential implications for their overall personal development and well-
being. It intents to answer the following:

various social media platforms on the
personality development of these students?

4. What are the potential positive and negative

effects of social media usage on the personal

Theoretical Framework
 Previous studies (e.g., Allen et al., 2014; Valkenburg & Peter, 2011; Kaplan & Haenlein, 2010)
classified opportunities and challenges of online social media use among adolescents. For
example, the early approach prominent during the 1990s stated that new technologies would
decrease adolescents’ social connectedness and wellbeing. However, due to media use changes
in recent years (e.g. increase in the popularity of media among users in different age ranges,
development of new online communication platforms and apps), the negative effects of
communication technologies on social communication and wellbeing no longer exist in the
same ways (Valkenburg & Peter, 2009). Recent studies employed quantitative modeling designs
(e.g. SEM, path analysis) to examine integrative models on how social media has changed the
social context of adolescents’ development (Valkenburg & Peter, 2008; Jackson et al., 2010;
Davis, 2013; Vanderbosch & Eggermont, 2016). These studies provide understandings of the
application of social media technologies and their benefits and risks for adolescents’
psychosocial development (Valkenburg & Peter, 2011).

The researchers use Simple Random Sampling. Simple random sampling

is a type of probability sampling in which the researcher randomly selects

a subset of participants from a population. Each member of the population

has an equal chance of being selected. Data is then collected from as

data.
 1.The researchers will ask a permission to conduct a survey from Senior
High School Coordinator and Practical Research 2 adviser.
 2.The researchers conduct survey through questionnaires.
 3.Permission was sought from the respondents and the respondents were
asked to answer all the questions from the questionnaires given to them.
 4.After collecting the data, the researchers will assess and analyze the
significant differences of data gathered.
Data Analysis

 To gain the results, the researchers will provide
