ENTRANCE HYMN

I’ve wandered far away

from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve
trod,
Lord, I’m coming home.
Coming home,
coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
Lord, I’m coming home.
I’ve wasted many precious
years,
Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears,
Lord, I’m coming home.
Coming home,
coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
Lord, I’m coming home.
I’m tired of sin and straying,
Lord,
Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy
word;
Lord, I’m coming home.
Coming home,
coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
Lord, I’m coming home.

INTRODUCTION
TO THE MASS
The Church, after rejoicing
yesterday with those of her
children who have entered the
glory of heaven, today prays
for all those who, in the
purifying suffering of
Purgatory await the day when
they will be joined to the
company of saints.
Daily in a special Memento in
the Canon of the Mass, at
which the priest remembers all
those who have fallen asleep in
the Lord, the priest implores
God to grant them a place of
happiness, light and peace.
Thus there is no Mass in
which the Church does not
pray for the faithful departed;
but today her thoughts are
directed towards them in a
particular fashion, with the
maternal preoccupation of
leaving no soul in Purgatory
without spiritual aid and of
grouping them all together in
her intercession.
PENITENTIAL RITE
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and
sisters, that I have greatly
sinned, in my thoughts and in
my words,
in what I have done and in
what I have failed to do,
through my fault,
through my fault,
through my most grievous
fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary
ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and
sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our
God.
May almighty God have mercy
on us, forgive us our sins,
and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen
LORD HAVE MERCY
Lord have mercy on your
people gathered here
Christ have mercy on your
people gathered here
We confess we have sinned in
thought, word and deed
Lord have mercy on your
people gathered here.
GLORIA

and on earth peace to people
of good will. We praise you,
we bless you, we adore you,
we glorify you, we give you
thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O
God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, only
Begotten son, Lord God, Lamb
of God, son of the Father, you
take away the sins of the
world, have mercy on us; you
take away the sins of the
world, receive our prayer; you
are seated at the right hand of
the Father, have mercy on
us. For you alone are the holy
one, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the most high,
Jesus Christ, with the holy
spirit, in the glory of God the
Father. Amen.
GLORIA

LITURGY OF THE
WORD
FIRST READING
A reading from the book of
Wisdom
3:1-9
The souls of the righteous
are in the hand of God, and no
torment will ever touch them.
In the eyes of the foolish they
seemed to have died, and their
departure was thought to be
an evil thing, and their going
from us to be their destruction;
but they are at peace. For
though in the sight of men
they were punished, their
hope is full of immortality.
Having been disciplined a
little, they will receive great
good, because God tested
them and found them worthy
of himself; like gold in the
furnace he tried them, and like
a sacrificial burnt offering he
accepted them. In the time of
their visitation they will shine
forth, and will run like sparks
through the stubble. They will
govern nations and rule over
peoples, and the Lord will
reign over them for ever.
Those who trust in him will
understand truth, and the
faithful will abide with him in
love, because grace and mercy
are upon his holy ones.

RESPONSORIAL
PSALM
The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the
pastures where He gives me
repose.
Near restful waters He leads
me to revive my drooping
spirit.
The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
Yes, the Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
He guides me along what
He knows to be right.
If I walk in the darkness,
no evil would I fear.
I know that He will be there,
with His crook and with His
staff.
The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
Yes, the Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
The Lord has prepared,
such a banquet for me.
Surely goodness and kindness
shall follow after me.
In the Lord’s own house shall
I dwell all the days of my life.
The Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.
Yes, the Lord is my shepherd,
there is nothing I shall want.

Response:
The LORD is my shepherd;

The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want.

leads me; he revives my soul.
He guides me along the right
path, for the sake of his name.
Response:
The LORD is my shepherd;

you are with me.
Your crook and your staff will
give me comfort.
Response:
The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall want.
You have prepared a table
before me
in the sight of my foes.

with oil;
my cup is overflowing.

there is nothing I shall want.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me
all the days of my life.
In the LORD’s own house
shall I dwell
for length of days unending.

SECOND READING
A reading from the Letter
of Saint Paul to the Romans
5:5-11
Brethren:
Hope does not put us to
shame, because God's love has
been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who
has been given to us. For while
we were still weak, at the right
time Christ died for the
ungodly. For one will
scarcely die for a righteous
person—though perhaps for a
good person one would dare
even to die— but God shows
his love for us in that while we
were still sinners, Christ died
for us. Since, therefore, we
have now been justified
by his blood, much more shall
we be saved by him from the
wrath of God. For if while we
were enemies we were
reconciled to God by the death
of his Son, much more, now
that we are reconciled, shall
we be saved by his life.
More than that, we also rejoice
in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we
have now received
reconciliation.

HOMILY
THE PROFESSION
OF FAITH
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and
invisible. I believe in one
Lord Jesus Christ, the Only
Begotten Son of God, born of
the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light
from Light, true God from
true God, begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were
made. For us men and for our
salvation he came down from
heaven, and by
the Holy Spirit was
Incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man. For our
sake he was crucified under
Pontius Pilate, he suffered
death and was buried, and
rose again on the third day
in accordance with the
Scriptures. He ascended
into heaven and is seated at
the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the
dead and his kingdom will
have no end.
I believe in the Holy
Spirit, the Lord, the giver of
life, who proceeds from the
Father and the Son, who
with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified, who
has spoken through the
prophets.
I believe in one, holy,
catholic and apostolic
Church.
I confess one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins and I look
forward to the resurrection
of the dead and the life of the
world to come. Amen

COMMUNION RITE
THE LORD’S PRAYER
– THE OUR FATHER
Our Father, who art in
heaven, hallowed be thy
name; thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it
is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us
from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray,
from every evil, graciously grant
peace in our days, that, by the
help of your mercy, we may be
always free from sin and safe
from all distress, as we await the
blessed hope and the coming of
our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom,
the power and the glory are
yours
now and for ever.
Lord Jesus Christ, who said
to your Apostles, Peace I leave
you, my peace I give you, look
not on our sins, but on the faith
of your Church, and graciously
grant her peace and unity in
accordance with your
will. Who live and reign for ever
and ever.
Amen.
The peace of the Lord be with
you always.
And with your spirit.

Let us offer each other the sign

of peace.

God

ECCE AGNUS DEI
Behold the Lamb of God,
behold him who takes away
the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the
supper of the Lamb.
Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under
my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.
SPIRITUAL
COMMUNION PRAYER
My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Blessed
Sacrament. I love You above
all things, and I desire to
receive You into my soul. Since
I cannot now receive you
sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if you
were already there, and I unite
myself wholly to You. Never
permit me to be separated
from You. Amen.
COMMUNION HYMN
Amazing grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am
found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my
heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace
appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers,
toils, and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me
safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised
good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion
be,
As long as life endures.
POST COMMUNION

Sweep over my soul,
Sweep over my soul,
Sweet spirit,
Sweep over my soul.
My rest is complete,
When I sit at his feet,
Sweet spirit, sweep over my
soul.

RECESSIONAL HYMN
What a Friend we have in
Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace
we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and
temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be
discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend
so faithful
Who will all our sorrows
share?
Jesus knows our every
weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak
and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our
refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise,
forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and
shield thee,
You will find a solace there.
ACT OF ADORATION AND
REPARATION TO JESUS IN
