What is Food Processing
and Preservation?
Food processing and preservation refer to a
series of techniques and methods used to
transform raw food materials into various
forms that are more convenient, safe, and
flavorful for consumption while extending
their shelf life. The primary goal of food
processing and preservation is to make food
available and safe to eat for as long as
possible. Food processing involves a series
of operations that transform raw ingredients
into food products that are safe, nutritious,
and convenient to consume. Food
preservation, on the other hand, is the
process of extending the shelf life of food
products by preventing or slowing down
spoilage and decay.
