External Communication – Emergencies

• BWE, regardless of the scenario, is responsible for notifying the authorities (that issue the
licenses/permits for oil and gas production activities in the Golfinho field) – i.e.: ANP and IBAMA

• BWE must be responsible for the communication with the media if articulation with the media is
required, through the information provided by Saipem and Other resources of information that
is deems necessary. Both parties SHALL previously align the information

• BWE Company Rep. is the focal point aboard CVIT for communicating emergencies and
incidents to BWE

Wells Operations Procedures

• This procedure is a compilation of all well

start-up/shut-down and utilities (e.g.: EtOH
injection, diesel circulation) procedures
from Petrobras
• It is a copy and paste into BW Energy
template and formatting
• This procedure should replace Petrobras’
well start-up / shutdown procedures
• Comments and annotations will be
compilated to be incorporated into
annual/bi-annual updates

19 BW Energy - BWE Well Operations Training

Flow Assurance Guidelines
• This procedure is the compilation of the
‘GARESC’ table into a word document
• There is no modification and should be the same
of Petrobras
• BW Energy will use a conservative approach to
open and close-in wells – BWE should not take
risks
• Currently, BW Energy is considering Ethanol
injection in the service line and Dew Point
checks during start-up – An instruction to be
submitted before closing
• An extensive Flow Assurance Review will be
conducted by BW Energy Specialist. A new flow
assurance philosophy will be submitted possibly
next year

Operational and Emergency Communication Protocol
• A proper communication and form should be used whenever Petrobras enters the field to perform any
subsea activity; Petrobras should inform BWE about upcoing activity with 48 hours in advance

• OIM authorization is required to enter 500 m exclusion zone

• Any Emergency response initiated by Petrobras should be informed to BWE Emergency Center

Line Flushing Guidelines – In case of Trip
In case of Trip: General rule: Follow the FA guidelines – No changes.
‒ If trip happens during normal production (i.e.: lines are hot):
‒ If estimated downtime is greater than TED: Follow the recommended cooldown time and sequence to blowdown and displace
the lines as per Flow Assurance Guidelines. However, blowdown GLF-40, 28 and 08 production lines in parallel with GLF-38
and GLF-27 diesel displacement to optimize the CDT of the largest flowlines
‒ If estimated downtime is shorter than TED: Re-start the wells within TED but apply the following learnings from previous re-
starts (still to be captured in the FA guidelines) – Note: this scenario considers GLF-27 and GLF-38 are operating via MOBO.
Lines should be displaced within CDT if wells are operating via gas lift:
(1) Displace 20 m³ of diesel into GLF-27 production flowline to remove live hydrocarbons from the MOBO and minimize risk of
gas locks, then re-star the well via MOBO
(2) In parallel, displace GLF-38 production line fully with 210 m³ of diesel. It has been observed that GLF-38 start-up is
unstable if re-started without full displacement. Stable start-up will also preserve the ESP
(3) In parallel, start the blowdown of GLF-40, GLF-28, GLF-08 production lines to maximize the cooldown time
(4) Start-up the gas lift wells from the lowest to the greatest CDT : GLF-49, GLF-28, GLF-40, GLF-08
‒ If trip happens during well start-up (i.e.: lines are cold): Displace the lines with diesel – there is NO CDT

‒ Flow lines circulation with diesel: The flowlines should always be circulated at minimum 30 m³/h to ensure
turbulent flow inside the flowlines and removal of water. Note: Once diesel displacement has started, finish it.
