Education:
O It is the social institution that formally
socializes members of society. It also referred
to the process of through which skills,
knowledge, and values are transmitted from
teacher to students.
Formal Education:
O Formal education is a contiguous learning process
which means it involves the teachers, the students
and the institution.

O Formal education is more systematic and organized


education model.
Non-formal Education”
O Non-formal education is any organized and
systematic education activities for particular
subgroup according to their needs and ambitions.

O It is not limited to certain ages only and it is


necessary for the people, who are ambitious to
acquire certain knowledge.

O Manifest and Latent Function on
Education
O The value and purpose of education in society can
be studied using the functionalist and the conflict
perspective.

O The functionalist perspective focuses on the ways


that universal education serves the needs of society.
O Conflict Perspective sees the purpose of education
as maintaining social inequality and preserving the
power of those who dominate society.
Manifest and Latent Functions
O Manifest functions are the recognized and intended
consequences of any social pattern.

O Latent functions are those unrecognized and unintended


consequences.
