Introduction
Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) or known as Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (KPT)
has introduced Industrial Training as one of the requirements for all Diploma and
Bachelor students undergoing programmes fit to have Industrial Training in the
programme structure. The Industrial Training thus becomes compulsory for the
awarding of the bachelor’s degree in Islamic Science University of Malaysia or known as
Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Only students who meet the academic
qualifications set by their respective Faculties are eligible to undergo the Industrial
Training. For Bachelor of Fiqh and Fatwa programme, in the process of attaining the
award of Bachelor’s Degree by students, the least 16 weeks is required to be spent on
Industrial Training subject. The Industrial Training provides students with the
opportunity to apply the theories learned in the classroom to real situations in the
workplace. Other than that, students can obtain practical experiences in order to
enhance their own marketability.

respective areas of expertise.
• Improve their communication skills in multiple level of
the organisation.
• Apply their academic knowledge and skills in real work
settings.
• Adopt professional ethics in their respective fields.

 Background
• The Melaka Syariah Court was constituted under the Section 39 of
Administration of Syariah Law (State of Melaka) 1959. Since its early
establishment until 1989, MSC was put under the administration of
Melaka Islamic Religious Department (MIRD).
• The administration of MSC was separated from MIRD in year 1990
and it operated at MIRD’s building in Jalan Tengkera and was then
relocated to the Red Building at Jalan Kota. Later, it then moved to
Jalan Kee Ann.
• In 1995 MSC then shifted to Malacca Court Complex, Lebuh Ayer
Keroh, Melaka and remains here until now.
• The MSC has jurisdiction over Civil Mal cases, criminal, and
distribution of property (faraid) cases in all hierarchy of Syariah
courts

• The administration of Syariah Subordinate Court has been delegated into three
districts in Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin.
• The Syariah Subordinate Court of Alor Gajah District, Malacca has a trial court
marked with code L0404.
• Syariah Subordinate Court of Alor Gajah District had previously operated in front of
the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters in Malacca along with the Islamic
Religious Office.
• After the Islamic Religious Office moved to the UMNO’s building, Alor Gajah,
Malacca, then Syariah Subordinate Court of Alor Gajah District has operated alone
in that place.
• In 2008, Syariah Subordinate Court of Alor Gajah District moved to a new building
located at Jalan Taman Seri Bayu, Alor Gajah, Kampung Jelatang 78000, Alor Gajah,
Malacca

• To improve the knowledge and skills of officer and staff in legal and management
aspects;

Findings of Industrial Training
• Students gain valuable experience in the career world as a legal practitioner.
• Students have experience in hearing proceedings, bringing cases to be heard and
assisting in the trial proceedings in the Syariah Subordinate Courts.
• Students can develop self-confidence when dealing with clients and learn how to
communicate effectively when interacting with clients.
• Students able to adapt to the situation in the office along with the staff.
• Students can apply the theory that has been learned during the lecture session at
faculty.
• Students gain knowledge in the management of the Syariah Subordinate Courts
based on their scope and its jurisdiction.
• Trains the students to manage their time well.
