DISCUSSION
What is a Group Discussion?
A group discussion is a structured conversation where participants express
their opinions, arguments, and ideas on a specific topic. Unlike traditional
one-on-one debates, group discussions involve multiple participants who
contribute to the conversation. It's a forum for individuals to exchange views,
present arguments, and engage with each other's points of view. It requires
effective communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to listen and
respond to others' points of view.
The purpose of a group discussion is to bring together diverse perspectives
and ideas, encourage active listening and participation, and facilitate
problem-solving and decision-making. It is often used in educational and
professional settings to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and
communication skills.
Types of Group Discussions
Moderated Group discussions-
typically structured and moderated by an external force (adjudicators, OC
members, etc). Before speaking, permission needs to be taken.
