Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are

too small to be visible with the naked eye. This includes
bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, protozoa and algae,
collectively known as 'microbes‘ or microorganisms.

1.Laboratory coat, mask and gloves are worn.

2. Long hair is tied.
3. Working areas are kept clear of all unnecessary items.
4. Hand and bench tops are kept clean with disinfectant
Ethyl Alcohol70%).
5. Do not placed anything in the mouth such as fingers,
pencils or any subject during practical lab work.
6. Do not smoke, eat or drink in the laboratory.
7. Read all assigned materials before the lab session.
8. Before leaving your laboratory, carefully wash and
disinfect your hands and help in electricity off , Gas off.

Microscope: It is an instrument used for increasing the size of
microorganism which can not seen by eye, microscope consist of :

1- Eye lens: used for increase picture X10

Magnification equation=
power of objective lens X power of ocular lens

Example:
if the objective lens is on high power (40Х) so the
magnification power equal to: 40 Х 10 (Ocular lens) =400.
Incubator: It is an instrument provide suitable
condition for growth ( darkness, moisture,
temperature, O2)
Gas lamp (burner):- used for sterilization of inoculation
loop and needle by Heating to redness degree to kill all
bacteria.
