• FOR STATUS VALVE (OPEN & CLOSE POSITION)

• NEED 4 WIRE CONNECTION DIRECTLY TO FLOWCOMPUTER OR
• OTHER DEVICE.
• (2 FOR OPEN STATUS & 2 FOR CLOSE STATUS)

• FOR COMMAND VALVE (OPEN & CLOSE COMMAND)

• NEED 3 WIRE CONNECTION DIRECTLY TO FLOWCOMPUTER OR
• OTHER DEVICE.
• (1 FOR OPEN STATUS, 1 FOR CLOSE STATUS, and 1 COMMON)

• TOTAL CABLE FOR EACH MOV = 7 WIRE

Hardwire vs Serial connection

• FOR STATUS VALVE (OPEN & CLOSE POSITION) &

• FOR COMMAND VALVE (OPEN & CLOSE COMMAND)
• Using 2 or 4 (max) wire connection for Status & Command (using Modbus
• Protocol)

• TOTAL CABLE FOR EACH MOV = 4 WIRE

Hardwire vs Serial connection

For Cable requirement, Serial connection is better
Hardwire Connection Serial Connection
Cable MOV COMMAND - CLOSE

Cable FOR MOV COMMAND - OPEN

Cable for Status,
Cable MOV STATUS - CLOSE Command, diagnostic

Cable MOV STATUS - OPEN

1 pair cable for all parameter (status, command, diagnostic)
4 pair cable for status and command
Hardwire vs Serial connection
Response time (especially for critical task)
For Respond time, Hardwire is Superior
Hardwire Connection Serial Connection

Delay due to transmit serial data

No Delay – Direct/dedicated cable
Hardwire vs Serial connection
