Tittle : The cause of fire and

preventive measures

Prepared by : Tan Enn Kai

What is fire??
Fire is a process in which substances
combine chemically with oxygen from the
air and typically give out bright light, heat,
and smoke.
What are the conditions needed for
combustion?

1.Presence of a combustible substance.

2.Presence of a supporter of combustion.
3.Heating the combustible substance to its
ignition temperature.
The subtance used in a fire extinguisher deffers based
on the types of materials on fire. Discuss.
Answer:
The foam smothers the fire in solids and liquids , but
not in burning fats or cooking oils , so foam fire
extinguishers are used on burning liquids such as
petrol, paint or turpentine.
Fire can be extinguishers by removing on eof the
conditions needed for combustion using different
techniques. Explain and give example
Answer:
The general procedure is to prevent fresh air from
reaching the seat of the fire, allowing the
combustion to reduce the oxygen content in the
confined atmosphere until it extinguishes itself,
for example by: Snuffing out candles. Smothering
a pan with a fire blanket. Wrapping a person in a
fire blanket.
How does fire blanket works?
Answer:
A fire blanket is a highly flame-resistant
blanket that can be used to extinguish a small
fire or to wrap around a person in case of a
fire. Fire blankets are made from 2 layers of
woven glass fibre fabric and an inner layer of
fire retardant film. They work by cutting off
the oxygen supply to the fire.
Give four ways to prevent fire.
Answer:
1.Check electrical equipment and remove defective equipment.

2.Ensure electrical cords are in good condition.

3.Plug appliances and lights into separate electrical outlets.

4.Avoid using extension cords
