• A tower AB 80 m high appears in a vertical photograph.

The flying
height of the aircraft above m.s.l. is 3000 m. The distance of the image
of the top of the tower from the principal point is 7.25 cm. Compute
the displacement of the top of the tower with respect to the image of
its bottom if the elevation of the bottom of the tower is 1150.0 m.
• The distance from the principal point to an image on a photograph is
7.50 cm and the elevation of the object above the datum (sea level) is
350 m. What is the relief displacement of the point if the datum scale
is 1/8000 and the focal length of the camera is 250 mm.
• The images x and y of the base and top, respectively of a factory
chimney 150 m high are observed in a truly vertical aerial photograph
of scale 1 = 10000. Determine the position of x given that y is 70.0
mm from the principal point of the photograph. Take the focal length
of the camera to be 125 mm and assume the chimney to be at datum
level.
• A tower was photographed from an elevation of 800 m above datum.
The radial distances of the top and bottom of the tower from the
principal point are 112.2 mm and 81.6 mm. If the bottom of the tower
has an elevation of 250 m, determine the height of the tower.
• A section line AB 300 m long on a flat terrain measures 102.4 mm on
the vertical photograph. A radio tower also appears on the photograph.
The distance measured form the principal points to the image of the
bottom and top of the radio tower were found to be 7 cm and 8 cm
respectively. The average elevation of terrian was 553 m. Determine
the height of the tower. Take f = 152.4 mm.
