HYPOTHESIS
Increase in the number of rungs in a wire shaped in the form of a ladder increases the force experienced by it.
Reason:
1. The ladders did not fit in the magnetic field.
2. The hypothesis was then changed to measure the change in force experienced by wires bent at different
angles. The copper wire used did not conduct the current. The continuity of it was also checked using a
multimeter but the result was the same. The ends of the copper wire were also chipped off to remove the
insulation but conduction of current was still not observed. Two hours were spent on this without any
success.
CONTROL EXPERIMENT
• Negative control- No current flows through the conductor which does not produce any magnetic force
UNCERTAINTY
EXPERIMENT PROTOCOL
• Set up the apparatus. Place the magnet assembly on the pan of the balance. Place the current carrying
wire of length 6.4cm. With no current flowing, press the TARE button, bringing the reading to 0.00
grams (for negative control).
• Now turn on the current to 0.5A and record the mass value.
• Increase the current in 0.5A increments to a maximum of 5A each time recording the mass value
• Plot the graph between force (in gm/s^2) and the current.
• Now repeat the above procedure 3 times for error analysis.
