choosing a

subject for
art
By Jay Lure G. Baguio
Introduction
Still life is a genre of art that depicts inanimate objects, typically
commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, dead
animals, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books,
vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc.). Still life has been a popular subject for
artists throughout history, and can be found in a wide range of styles, from
realistic to abstract.

Still life art can be used to explore a variety of themes, such as the beauty
of everyday objects, the transience of life, or the relationship between
humans and the natural world. Still life artists often use their work to
experiment with different techniques and materials, and to create new and
innovative ways of seeing the world around them.

The Fragility and
Strength of Life
It is simply a beautiful and realistic depiction of two everyday
objects. However, the drawing can also be seen as a metaphor
for life. The tree branch represents the fragility of life, while the
rock represents strength and stability. The two elements are
juxtaposed in the drawing, creating a sense of balance and
harmony.
The drawing can also be seen as a meditation on the relationship
between humans and nature. The tree branch is a symbol of the
natural world, while the rock is a symbol of the human world.
The two elements are connected in the drawing, suggesting that
humans and nature are interdependent.
