Instructions:

• Voluntary students will join the game.


• Find a match.
• Match each finger to the home row keys on keyboard.
• After 1 minute, the teacher will announce the correct
match.

Objectives
 identify the hand positioning on keyboard of a
computer;
 learn the correct finger placement on keyboard; and

 apply skills on mastering the typing on keyboard of


a computer.
Home Row Position
The home row is a section of the keyboard
that is central to all the other keys.
Home Row Position

To find the home row position:


1. Locate the elevated “tabs”, without looking down, on
the F and J keys. Place your left index finger on the F
key, and your right index finger on the J key.
2. Then place the fingers on your left hand on the A, S, D
and F keys and the fingers on your right hand on the J,
K, L and ; keys.
3. Your fingers are now in the home row position.

HOW TO POSITION HAND ON A KEYBOARD
1. Fix your keyboard so it stands up.
2. Think about the curvature of your hands as you place them on the keyboard.
3. Raise your wrists a tiny bit above the desk (if you are forced to type on a laptop
keyboard).
4. Learn that both hands will need to sit on the keyboard at first.
5. Place your hands down on the keyboard.
6. Learn a little about the names to the home rows on a keyboard.
7. Place your left hand on the keyboard.
8. Place your right hand on the keyboard.
9. Learn where your thumbs go.
10. Learn just how much pressure it takes to depress each key .
