SINOPSYS NOVEL

THE NOVEL WOMAN AT ZERO POINT TELLS THE STORY OF PARADISE'S LIFE WHICH IS CRUSHED BY
THEE INJUSTICE SHE RECEIVES AS A WOMAN. HIS FATHER HAD NO LOVE FOR HIM. VIOLENCE
CONTINUES TO BE RECEIVED WHEN FIRDAUS CONTINUES HIS LIFE AT HIS UNCLE'S HOUSE. FIRDAUS
REALIZED THAT HER UNCLE HADABUSED HER.

THEN, FIRDAUS WAS TRAPPED IN A MARRIAGE THAT SHE DID NOT ENJOY, BECAUSE HER HUSBAND
OFTEN ABUSED HER. UNTIL ONE DAY, WHEN FIRDAUS LEFT THE HOUSE, HE MET A MALE PIMP WHO
WANTED TO WORK TOGETHER. HOWEVER, FIRDAUS CONTINUED TO REFUSE, UNTIL FINALLY FIRDAUS
STABBED THE MAN AS A FORM OF SELF-DEFENSE. FIRDAUS WAS SENTENCED TO PRISON AND HANGED
FOR HISACTIONS.
o Mimetic Theory according to Abrams
o Mimetically in the process of creating literary (art) works, writers/artists of
course have made careful observations of human life in the real world and
then made reflections on that life before expressing it in their literary (art)
work. This kind of view starts from the idea that literary works are a
reflection of real life. This reflection is realized because of imitation and is
combined with the author's imagination of the reality of nature or human life.
CRITICISM OF THE CHARACTER
FIRDAUS USING THEORY

“I'm not a prostitute. But from the beginning,

my father, uncle, husband, they all taught me
to be an adult as a prostitute and all women are
just prostitutes."
On page 97, I disagree with Firdaus' view at
that time that all women were prostitutes in
one form or another. In my opinion, not all
women are like that, if they have a high
religious attitude, they are even willing to die
as long as they don't sell themselves to men.

CONCLUSIO
N
The novel "Women at Zero Point" by Nawal el-Saadawi is
a feminist novel that reveals many dimensions of
oppression against women and reveals the character's
struggle against gender discrimination to obtain her rights.
