esteemed members of the jury, and fellow students. We are [Rishabh] and
[Praharsh]. We are elated to stand before you as representatives of our
esteemed institution. It is our privilege and honor to stand before you today as
we address a pressing and vital issue that affects women worldwide
i.e. Atrocities Against Women We believe that it is not just a topic of discussion;
it's a call to action, a demand for change, and a plea for justice. In Today's
modern world as we demand for gender equality and social justice. we stand
united in our commitment to raising awareness and combating this grave issue.
Through this presentation, we hope to shed light on the various forms of
violence against women, its far-reaching consequences, and the imperative
need for collective efforts to eradicate it from our society.

Prevalence of Violence Against Women
1. Global Prevalence : According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1
in 3 women worldwide has experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime.

2. National Statistics : In 2011, there were 228,650 reported incidents of crime against
women. In 2021, there were 4,28,278 reported incidents, an 87% increase. 29.3% of married
Indian women between the ages of 18 and 49 have experienced domestic/sexual violence. 3.1% of
pregnant women aged 18 to 49 have suffered physical violence during their pregnancy.30% of
crimes against women were under Section 498A of IPC. 19% of women in India have been beaten
or physically mistreated by their husbands. 2% have been beaten or physically mistreated by in-
laws and 3% by other persons.21% of women in India have experienced violence since the age
15. 22.3% of urban women had suicidal thoughts and 3.4% had attempted suicide.

against women go unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of trust in the legal system.
