Sustainability is an environmental term describing how biological systems remain

diverse and productive over time.

For humans, sustainability is the ability to sustain our quality of life over the long
term, which in turn depends on the conservation of the natural world and the
responsible use of natural resources.
Types of sustainability
Environmental
Focuses on preserving the
natural environment, including
ecosystems, biodiversity and
natural resources, and
reducing the impact of human
activities on the environment.
It includes practices such as
conservation and recycling,
renewable energy and
sustainable agriculture.
Social
This type of sustainability
focuses on promoting social
justice, equity and inclusion. It
includes efforts to address
poverty, inequality and social
exclusion and to ensure that all
people have access to basic
needs such as food, water,
shelter, health care, education
and employment.
Economical
This type of sustainability
focuses on creating a
prosperous economy that
provides opportunities for all
people to prosper while
ensuring the long-term
sustainability of economic
activities. This includes
practices such as responsible
investment, fair trade and
sustainable trade practices.

Strengths in Sadat City
1. Optimal selection of the location of a housing block in overall
planning will keep it completely safe from the adverse effects
of factories.

2. The presence of large green Spaces within the residential

block accounts for 8% of the total area.

3. The city has the highest groundwater quality in the Republic.

4. 4-Sadat City is characterized by the expansion of the green

belt, as it extends to surround the entire city with an area
28,000 acres have been allocated for agricultural investment.

5. 5-In addition to the green areas within the city’s residential

block, it extends into an area of at least 400 acres, and
afforestation of roads with the aim of creating an breathing
space for residents and residents of the city away from
pollution.
Weaknesses in Sadat City
1. There is no environmentally friendly
transportation.

2. Not treating gases and dust resulting from the

industrial process to the fullest.

3. Lack of continuous environmental

communication with factories and providing
solutions and incentives for environmental
compatibility.

4. Lack of awareness of individuals of the types of

waste and the proper way to dispose of it.

5. For household waste: the generation rate

increased from 50 tons to 175 tons / day.
Threats in Sadat City
1. Air pollution by emissions in industrial areas.

2. Discharge of industrial effluents to the public

network without treatment.

3. Hazardous solid waste.

4. The impact of expatriates on the absorptive

capacity of Sadat City’s environment.

5. Intensive industrial activities may pose

environmental challenges, including pollution
and resource depletion.
Opportunities in Sadat City
1. The most important strategies of the Sadat Green
Initiative are represented in 3 steps (improvement,
rationalization, recycling).

2. The presence of real estate investors to build

environmentally friendly buildings.

3. Environmental awareness initiatives at the

university under the supervision of Dr. Shaden
Muawiyah.

4. Green Park with a sustainable hotel was established

by the investor / Ktoba.

5. Sadat has the largest sustainable environmentally

friendly factory complex in the Middle East.

Recommendations
Recommendations:
Establishing a solar energy station in Sadat City, which
contains many desert lands.

Providing the city with natural gas stations in proportion

to the city’s population.

Installing lighting poles and operating them with solar

energy.

Establishing a wind power station as well.

 Recommendations:
“Green Sadat” doesn’t collect glass , so Aqar group may collect it with
cooperation of factory “inferosperts”.

The garbage separation initiative, in cooperation with the university.

Conducts environmental awareness campaigns for residents and students on

sustainability and the environment.
