SITUATION
Rover Inc., a pet food manufacturing company, wants to recruit individuals for
fixing the machinery. The sales manager posts an advertisement in the local
newspaper which reads as follows: "Required are well-trained mechanical engineers
with good knowledge in large-scale machinery. The individual will be required to
fix malfunctioning machinery, restore machinery that is obsolete, and train workers
in operating the machinery." It also places advertisements on the company's bulletin
boards and intranet. The human resources manager has developed a pool of
prospective candidates for the job in the organization. The HR manager then
chooses from the pool of candidates, making decisions on whom to hire.

Describe the advantages and challenges associated with

internal recruitment, especially when filling technical positions
like mechanical engineers.
