What is Advertisement?
• a notice or announcement in a
z

public medium promoting a

product, service, or event or
publicizing a job vacancy.
z

Newspaper
Advertisement
Newspaper advertising is what the name
would suggest and involves running an ad
for your business in a publication. There
can be a variety of things that can be included
in this, depending on what goals you're
looking for. Typically, it means that you'll place
an ad in a specific section of the newspaper.
z

Magazine
Advertisement
Magazine advertisements are the ads that you
see in publications. Most publishers rely on the
ads placed on their publications to generate
income. Advertisers place their product or service
on the magazine, and then the publisher will
distribute these mags in an area covering their
mailing list.
z

Radio
Advertisement
Radio advertising is buying commercials to
promote products or services. Advertisers pay
commercial radio stations for airtime and, in
exchange, the radio station broadcasts the
advertiser's commercial to its listening audience.
z

Television
Advertisement
A television advertisement (also called a television
commercial, TV commercial, commercial, television
spot, TV spot, advert, TV advert or simply an ad) is a
span of television programming produced and
paid for by an organization. It conveys a message
promoting, and aiming to market, a product or service.
z

Outdoor
Advertisement
Outdoor advertising, also known as out-of-home
advertising, is advertising that reaches consumers
when they are outside their homes. The Outdoor
Advertising Association of America says that’s
where consumers spend 70 percent of their time.
z

Transit
Advertisement
Transit advertising is advertising placed in
or on modes of public transportation or
in public transportation areas. Using this
method of advertising, ads can be placed
anywhere from on the sides of buses, trains
and taxis, to inside subway cars, inside bus
stations and near train or bus platforms.
z

Direct mail
A type of direct marketing that's
delivered physically to a prospect's
mailbox through the United States
Postal Service or other delivery
service.
z

Banner
Advertisement
Banner ads are image-based rather than text-
based and are a popular form of online
advertising. The purpose of banner advertising
is to promote a brand and/or to get visitors from
the host website to go to the advertiser's
website.
z

Email
Advertisement
Email advertising is a type of marketing
performed via email whereby the recipient
has consented to receive promotional
messages from a brand. In this form of
advertising, marketers seek to gain permission
from their prospective customers by giving
them an option to opt-in before sending emails.
z

Product
placement
Advertisement
Product placement, also known as
embedded marketing, is a marketing
technique where references to
specific brands or products are
incorporated into another work, such
as a film or television program, with
specific promotional intent.
