CONCLUSIONS

Population size is increasing from 10.2 million to 12.7million

Increased population leads to higher demand of urban development
The future trend of annual precipitation is expected to be increasing
Extreme urban and river floods becoming more frequent
Segregation of water supply promotes over extraction of groundwater and is
expected to grow in future due to urban development
The land subsidence is projected to settle to 11-12cm/year due to over-extraction of
groundwater
Coastal flood would become a future problem due to global sea level rise, with
expected rise to be around 5-6mm/year
OPEN QUESTIONS
Looking at the future trend of urban development, precipitation, and sea level rise,
do the current measures sufficient for future challenges?
How correct is the decision of shifting the capital from Jakarta to Borneo? Does it
reduce future vulnerability from floods in Jakarta?
What will be the fate of Jakarta? Social/Commercial!!
