Colosseum
Place: Italy,ROME
Age: almost 2000 years The site chosen was a flat area on the floor of a
low valley between the Caelian, Esquiline and
Palatine Hills, through which a canalised
stream ran as well as an artificial lake/marsh.

By the 2nd century BC the area was densely
inhabited. It was devastated by the
Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD, following which
Nero seized much of the area to add to his
personal domain. He built the grandiose Domus
Aurea on the site, in front of which he created
an artificial lake surrounded by pavilions,
gardens and porticoes. The existing Aqua
Claudia aqueduct was extended to supply water
to the area and the gigantic bronze
Colossus of Nero was set up nearby at the
entrance to the Domus Aurea.[
The Chichen Itza

old. The layout of Chichen Itza site core
developed during its earlier phase of
occupation, between 750 and 900 AD.

Its final layout was developed after
900 AD, and the 10th century saw the
rise of the city as a regional capital
controlling the area from central
Yucatán to the north coast, with its
power extending down the east and
west coasts of the peninsula. [20] The
earliest hieroglyphic date discovered
at Chichen Itza is equivalent to 832
AD, while the last known date was
recorded in the Osario temple in 998

Vincentian priest Pedro Maria Boss first
suggested placing a Christian monument
on Mount Corcovado in the mid 1850s to
honor Princess Isabel, regent of Brazil
and the daughter of Emperor Pedro II,
but the project was not approved.[1] In
1889 the country became a republic, and
owing to the
separation of church and state the
proposed statue was dismissed.[7]

Ancient Greek: Πέτρα, "Rock"), originally
known to its inhabitants as Raqmu or
Raqēmō, is a historic and archaeological city
in southern Jordan. It is adjacent to the
mountain of Jabal Al-Madbah, in a basin
surrounded by mountains forming the
eastern flank of the Arabah valley running
from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba.
Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal was built in


1648 by Shah Jehan as a
memorial to his wife.
Today, it is listed as one of
the new Seven Wonders of
the World. Mughal Emperor

Mumtaz Mahal on June 17,
1631. He was inconsolable
and envisaged a memorial
that would befit his love
Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca citadel,


located in the Eastern Cordillera of southern
Peru, on a 2,430-meter (7,970 ft) mountain
ridge.[2][3] It is located in the Machupicchu
District within Urubamba Province[4] above
the Sacred Valley, which is 80 kilometers
(50 mi) northwest of Cuzco. The
Urubamba River flows past it, cutting through
the Cordillera and creating a canyon with a
tropical mountain climate.[5]
Great Wall of China
Place: China
Age: almost 3,000 years old.

. Much of what remains was built during the Ming


Dynasty. While intended to keep out foreign invaders,
Genghis Khan demonstrated how even a wall as great
as this had a flaw
