REPUBLIC ACT 10533

•The law was approved on May 15, 2013,by former president Benigno Simeon
Aquino III and took it's effect june 8,2013.

• An act enhancing the philippines basic education system by


strengthening its curriculum and increasing the number of years for basic
education,appropriating funds therefore and for other purposes.
• The above law establishes a universal kindergarten in the country and
subsequently introduces new grade levels–the Grade 11 and Grade 12 to
secondary education level both in public and private schools. The
enhanced basic education act of 2013 is also known as the K to 12 Act.

Specifically, the K to 12 covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education:


-6 years of primary education;
-4 years of junior high school; and
-2 years of senior high school
