 To reinforce and help improve basic skills of the students to


ensure quality learning outcomes in movement education.

 These activities are designed to promote the development of skill


and health-related components of fitness.

 This program also provides a venue for students to integrate


creativity to their performances, develop wholesome relationship
with others and cultivate positive traits and values.
Brief History
Rhythmic activities trace back to the
Olympics, with sports such as gymnastics that
combined movement with the use of rhythm or

BRIEF HISTORY AND NATURE OF
DANCE
Dance can be seen among all the people and civilizations of the world. Dances thrived at
different periods of history and mostly were a result of intercultural exchange and

past.
Various artistic, religious, and social forces started out the incorporation and
development of Dance.

ORIGINS OF ANTIQUITY- Early dances may have been religious in nature, and by
the time of ancient Greece, people were incorporating dance into celebrations of the
wine god Dionysus (and later the Roman god Bacchus) and into ritual dances during
the ancient Greek Olympic Games. In addition, individuals danced for pleasure,
seduction, and entertainment in the early days.
