 Bands
• Bands are societies that are composed of
fairly small and nomadic group of people.
• In a band, the local group or community is
the largest group that acts as political unit.

•It is a combination of smaller kin or non-
kin groups, linked by a common culture,
that usually act as one.
•Usually bigger than bands and are
primarily food producers.

•It is a form of hierarchical political

usually based on kinship, and in which
formal leadership is monopolized by the
legitimate senior members of select
families or “houses”.
