PROSTITUTION
• Prostitution is very common in urban areas. It
results due to illiteracy and unemployment as
well as poverty.
• It is a burning social problem around the globe.
A female who makes extra marital or physical
relations to earn money and get high standard of
life is involved in prostitution. In this a female
makes physical relation with more than one
person and her objective is only to earn easy
money and high life style. It is a crime associated
with sex.
There are many definition
of Prostitution. The simplest PROSTITUTION
definition says that it is an
exchange of money
for sexual purpose that is
offering sexual intercourse
for pay or in other words it
is an act of sexual
intercourse in exchange for
money.

• According to Prem Sharma Modgil- A


prostitute is a female who agrees to make sexual
or extramarital physical relations with any
person, who offers money or any kind of help for
such an act".
Or
• Acording to Eiliot and Merrill- "Prostitution
is promiscuous and for money intercourse which
has the lack of emotions"

Nature of prostitution
 Prostitution is an occupation.
 A Females are indulged in this for money or economic needs, not
for physical satisfaction.
 Lack of love and emotions is found in prostitution. Males just want
to satisfy their physical need and females want to earn money.
 Illicit relations are found in prostitution. Society or state does not
permit this occupation or relation.
 Lack of discrimination is found in prostitution. In this, age,
beauty, caste and other things do not matter, they just want
money, only money matters in prostitution.
 Prostitution is an immoral occupation and has a bad impact on
society.
 There is a barter system in prostitution. Female offers her body or
physical organs and sex organs for money

Biological Causes
 Defective sex organs of husband.
 More sex urge in female then male.
 More sex urge in male than female.
 Non-vegetarian people have more sex urge than
vegetarian people.
 If somebody indulges in prostitution at
adolescent stage once, because of uncontrolling

• Poverty is the main root of this problem.
• Unemployment.
• Desire of high standard of living.
• Increasing prices of basic goods.
• Unable to fulfill all basic needs with her income.
• Modern industrialization.

3. Nymphomania.
4. Lack of love from partner.

4. Bad working system.

5. Class system of stratification.

6. Alcoholism and drug addiction.

Causes of prostitution

Individual Causes

Lack of privacy.

Inability to get married.

Neglected by husband.

Illegitimate motherhood.

Physically handicapped.

Lack of affection.
Evil effects of Prostitution
• It is a stain on women.
• A person becomes characterless who indulges in
prostitution.
• It is responsible for personal disorganization.
• It is responsible for family and social
disorganization also.
• It has a bad impact on coming generation or their
own children.
• It is responsible for increasing the rate of crime.
• It is responsible for increasing the number of AIDS
patients.
Suggestions to remove this problems
• The members of all communities should be aware to
remove this problem by canvassing and advertisements.
• The facility of rehabilitation should be given to prostitute
lady with the help of social welfare departments,
religious and social institutions.
• Commercial recreational cinemas and dancing halls
should be banned
• Government should take important steps to remove
poverty because poverty is the root of prostitutions.
Suggestions to remove this problems

• The law of employment for widow and divorced


women should be made.
• Discrimination on the basis of economic standard
or other standards should be considered a crime.

by the law
