SAMPLED DATA SYSTEM

CONTROL SYSTEM
• A control system is a set of mechanical or electronic devices that regulates other devices or
systems by way of control loops.
• A control system manages, commands, directs, or regulates the behavior of other
devices or systems using control loops.
• Today, virtually all control systems are implemented digitally, on platforms that range from large
computer systems (e.g. the mainframe of an industrial SCADA1 system) to small embedded
processors.
ANALOG SYSTEM
• A system that uses continuous time signal for processing is known as
an analog system. The analog signals or continuous time signals are the
signals whose magnitude continuously changes with time. Most analog
systems use continuous time signals having sinusoidal waveforms.
DIGITAL SYSTEM
• A system of components like a computer which uses discrete time signals to
operate is called a digital system. Digital systems uses such signals that
have square shaped waveforms. Digital systems first accept the outside data
in the form of analog signal, then transforms them into digital signal by
employing a sampling technique. Once an equivalent digital signal is
produced, the system uses this to produce a desired output. Due to this
conversion process, digital systems are slower in comparison to analog
systems.
SAMPLED DATA CONTROL SYSTEM
• A sampled-data system is a control system that uses a digital device to control a continuous-
time plant. These systems are useful for digital control of continuous-time systems.
• Control systems that combine an analog part with some digital components are traditionally
referred to as sampled-data systems.
• Sampled data system converts continuous analog signals into discrete signals to control a plant or
process.
IMPORTANT TERMS
• ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER(A/D): In electronics, an analog-to-digital converter is a system
that converts an analog signal, such as a sound picked up by a microphone or light entering a
digital camera, into a digital signal. This converter is one kind of integrated circuit or IC that
converts the signal directly from continuous form to discrete form.
• DIGITAL TO ANALOG CONVERTER(D/A): In electronics, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC, D/A,
D2A, or D-to-A) is a system that converts a digital signal into an analog signal.
• Sampling data ensures convenience, comprehensive data collection, applicability in limited resources, and improved rapport. Sampling data has several other
benefits as well.
• Low sampling cost: -
• The cost of collecting data for the entire population would be prohibitive. As a result, if data is collected for a sample of the population, the cost will be cheaper,
which is a significant advantage.
• Less time spent on sampling: -
• Sampling also saves time. It takes less time than the census method. A sample takes far less time to tabulate, analyse, and so forth than a population.
• The scope of sampling is broad:-
• The investigator is worried about data generalisation. It would be impractical to research an entire community to make broad generalisations. Some populations
are so huge that it is impossible to measure their characteristics. The population would have changed by the time the measurement was finished. However, by
analysing the variables within a relatively small part of the population, the sampling procedure allows generalisations to be made.
• Data accuracy is excellent: -
• After drawing a sample and computing the appropriate descriptive statistics, the stability of the sample value can be determined. A sample is a representation of
the population chosen.
• Convenient organisation: -
• There are very few organisational issues with sampling. Because the sample is so small, no large facilities are necessary. As a result, sampling is cost-effective in
terms of resources. Sample analysis necessitates less space and equipment.
• Data that is both extensive and in-depth:-
• In sample studies, just a small number of people are measured or observed. As a result, extensive and detailed data is gathered.
• Appropriate for restricted resources: -
• An organization's resources may be limited. It is not possible to study the entire cosmos. Sampling can provide adequate coverage of the population. When
resources are scarce, sampling is an effective approach for performing marketing research.
