Introduction
Community Based Services is the lead
department of the Social Development
Sector (SDS) in the district.

It is the MGLSD at the district level

development and labour productivity for
sustainable, gender responsive and inclusive

Core functions
O Community mobilization: to empower
communities to appreciate, access, participate in,
manage and demand for services and
accountability in public and community based
initiatives.
O Social protection: ensure inclusion of all social
groups in all planned interventions; protecting
vulnerable categories from deprivation and
livelihood risks (support vulnerable groups) and
abuse.

O Labour, employment and industrial relations:
Create an enabling environment for increasing
employment opportunities and productivity for
improved livelihoods and social security, skills
development, labour dispute settlement & Work
based inspection.
O Gender Equality and Women Empowerment;
ensuring that issues of inequality and exclusion
across all sectors and levels of development are
addressed.

O Institutional capacity development- conduct
OCA for local groups; and ensuring improved
performance of civil society organisations
and development partners (NGOs) to
implement desired development programmes
as required by the District Council and
Government.

O 949 SAGE beneficiaries received payments twice

O 01 case of defilement was reported and
investigated, the perpetrator is on remand;

completed and accounts submitted to the

Priorities for Financial
Year 2020/2021
In 2020/2021, we commit to expand provision of
community based interventions in the functional areas
of community mobilization, expanding social
protection, gender and women empowerment, labour
dispute settlement, work based inspection and
Institutional Capacity Development and strengthening
partnerships.
