Appearance:-
 It is a God given gift
 It gives basic information about a person
 We cannot change it, but can give ourselves a pleasant look.
 Should be proper: -should suit one’s physique -should add to one’s comfort
and confidence -should not disturb one’s work
 Should be appropriate: -should suit the place, time and occasion -should not
make one feel odd person out -should make one welcomed and feel a part
of the occasion
 Love yourself -don’t try to change yourself -there is no one like you on this
earth -there is no need to look or behave like anyone else
 Remember: Everyone of us is a unique personality

Posture & Styles:


 Standing: stand straight with equal weight on both the legs -it is comfortable -avoid standing on
1&1/2 legs -it is tiring
 Sitting: Sit straight with thighs parallel and legs resting on the floor -don’t cross your thighs or
knees
 Walking: walk with medium and equal steps at moderate speed
 Proper posture makes you feel comfortable and confident

Gestures
 Movement of Head, neck, shoulders, arms, hand and fingers to convey some message
 The size should be appropriate to the number of receivers and the distance between the two
communicators
 Should match the spoken words
 Varies culture to culture and age to age
 Adds to or even substitutes spoken words

Facial Expressions:
 Face is the index of the heart
 Expressions show feelings
 Should not too big or too long

Eye Contact:
 Eyes are the mirror of the soul
 Have eye contact with your communicators
 Don’t look at the ceiling or floor while communicating
 Do not constantly stare at the communicator
 Shows your preparation and confidence
