One thing with meal kits is their environmental and

waste factor. With people around the world purchasing
meal kits to their home, The meals must all be wrapped
in some sort of plastic covering to stop the meals from
spilling. And with many people ordering meal kits,
sometimes even daily, this could lead you to believe
that meal kits are in fact not very environmentally
friendly. Also, with meal kits being mass produced
before being delivered to different homes it makes you
question the freshness and quality of the ingredients of
the meals.
Is the food trend environmentally
friendly? Why/why not?

Meal kits aren’t very environmentally friendly no,

some companies use a concerning amount of
packaging to ensure the meal kits freshness and
presentation but in order to package all these meal
kits they need to use a lot of plastic as it is the
cheapest and most convenient option. On top of this,
most of the packaging only has a one time use so
after people finish their meal kits they’d just throw
away the plastic instead of reusing it.
Why is the food trend
popular? Do you think it
will last? Why or why not?

Meal kits are quite popular because of their

convenience and cheap cost. A lot of people
don’t have lots of time after they finish work
to cook nice meals with what they have in
their fridge and eating out every night can be
tiring and expensive, so meal kits is a pretty
convenient alternative as it’s cheap and low
effort to purchase. I think it will probably last
a while due to its high demand now and most
people don’t realize the cost this may have on
the environment.
