It is located in semi-arid and arid regions that include the deserts of Pakistan. The forest
is covering the whole Indus plain excluding few areas such as Gujrat, Sialkot, and Jehlum
and parts of the Deccan Plateau.
It also present around thar, thal and cholistan deserts.
The recorded rainfall in the arid region is 200mm while in the semi-arid it is 250-750mm.
The temperature ranges from 23 to 50°C.
A thorn forest is characterized by dense, scrubland.
This forest primarily consists of plant species that are open, low and xerophytic, with
trees and plants armed with thorns and spines.
Lacks grass.
Many plants have large, leathery leaves to minimize water loss and some have long roots
to penetrate deep into the soil to access groundwater.
Cacti or other succulent plants, thick stemmed plants, thorny brush and arid adapted
grasses occupy the ground floor.
Types of trees found here include Plum trees, Date tress and Babul.
