    Urolithiasis refers to the presence of components of urine in solid phase in the urinary apparatus. Kidney stones are called nephrolithiasis. Stones located elsewhere in the urinary system are called urolithiasis. Epidemiological studies show that 5-12% of people in industrialized countries will experience symptomatic kidney stones by age 70. Risk factors include hypercalciuria, hypocitraturia, hyperuricosuria, and genetic factors. Symptoms can include pain, nausea, vomiting, hematuria, and urinary tract infections. Diagnosis is made through clinical examination, medical imaging tests, and analysis of stone composition. Treatment depends on the size and location of the stones
