UV-VISIBLE SPECTRUM OF
PARACETAMOL

The Principle of UV-Visible Spectroscopy is based on the absorption of

ultraviolet light or visible light by chemical compounds, which results in the
production of distinct spectra. Spectroscopy is based on the interaction
between light and matter.
In the UV–vis spectrum,
Paracetamol exhibits maximum
absorbance (λmax) at 243 nm.

RESULT AND CONCLUSION

• The UV-visible spectra of solutions containing 100 mg/l paracetamol was carried out and the
maximum absorbance was found at 243nm for all solutions.
• IR spectra: C=C, C=O, aromatic ring, sp2 C-H, sp3 C-H, OH, N-H functional groups are present.
• NMR spectra: It shows the presence of para coupled aromatic protons at the position 1 and 4 in
the aromatic ring
• Mass spectra: Mass of the compound is 151.
