STARS AND SOLAR SYSTEM

Stars
Stars have there own heat
and light.

There are round about

10000 stars visible to the
naked eye in the entire
sky. To see more, you have
to use a telescope to reveal
stars fainter than your
eyes can see.

Astronomers estimate
there are a trillion stars in
the Milky Way Galaxy.
Types Of Stars

The general categories are O, B, A, F, G, K, M, R, N, T,

Y, and group stars by their temperatures, luminosities,
and colors.
Planet
s

There are
total 8
planets and
5 Dwarf
planets in
our solar
system.
Name of the Planets. In the
order of Distance from the
Sun

Mercury
(49.254 million km)

Neptune Venus
(4.475 billion km) (108.76 million km)

Uranus Earth
(2.9512 billion km) (148.62 million km)

Saturn Mars
(1.4835 billion km) (242.42 million km)

Jupiter (749.45
million km)
The
Sun

The Sun is the centre of the

solar system. Also, this is the
head of the solar system. The
Sun is a dwarf celestial body.
It holds 99.8% of the solar
system's mass. About the
314000 earth can be fitted
inside the sun. The surface
temperature of the Sun is
5,505 °C. Our Sun is a G-
type main-sequence star.
The
Mercury

Mercury is the smallest

planet of the solar
system. Also, it is the 2nd
hottest planet of the
solar system after Venus.
The surface temperature
of mercury in day is 500
°C. And, The surface
temperature of mercury
in night is -173 °C.
The
Venus

Venus is the hottest

planet of the solar
system. Also, it is known
as sister of earth. The
surface temperature of
Venus is 462 °C. Venus
is the second planet from
the Sun. A day on Venus
is longer than a year on
Earth.
The
Earth

Earth is a blue planet.

Earth is only the
planet where life is
supported in the solar
system. The distance
of Earth from Sun is
148.62 million km.
Earth is the only
planet not named after
a god.
The
Mars

Mars is reddish in colour

because it contains surface
covered with iron and got
rusted. Mars has 2 moons
called Deimos and Phobos.
Mars is the 4th planet from
the sun. Mars is named after
the Roman god of war. Mars
have mountain in its south
pole which is 3 times taller
than the ‘Mount Everest’
named as ‘Olympus Mons’.
Long distance between Mars and
Jupiter.
The long distance
between mars and
Jupiter is due the
asteroid belt present in
between of mars and
Jupiter. The belt is
estimated to
contain between 1.1 and
1.9 million
asteroids larger than 1
kilometer in diameter,
and millions of smaller
ones.
The
Jupiter

This is the biggest planet

on the solar system. And,
the lines you can see in
image these are winds
flowing in Jupiter’s
atmosphere at the speed of
about 360 km/ hour. Jupiter
is failed star. If it contains
some more mass from now
so it could become a star.
The
Saturn

Saturn is 6th planet from

the solar system. It
contains beautiful rings
around it which is made
up of ‘ice’ and ‘gases’.
Saturn could float in
water because its density
is even less than water.
Saturn has 62 moons.
The
Uranus

Uranus is 7th planet of

the solar system. It is
tilted by 98°C on its
axis. Uranus has 27
moons. Uranus is the
second-least dense
planet after Saturn.
Uranus is the Coldest
planet in our solar
system.
The Neptune

Neptune is 8th planet from

the solar system. Neptune
is named after the Roman
god of the sea. A year on
Neptune lasts 165 Earth
years. Neptune is the
smallest gas Giant in our
solar system. It has 6 faint
rings. Neptune's Surface
Gravity is Almost Earth-
like
Dwarf
Planets
The
Pluto

Pluto is even smaller

than the America. Its
surface is covered
with ice. The average
temperature of
surface of Pluto is -
232 °C. Pluto has a
heart shape on its
surface.
The
Haumea

Its shape is like

a egg🥚.
Haumea is
located beyond
Neptune's orbit.
The
Ceres

Ceres is the closest dwarf

planet to the Sun. It was
named after the Roman
goddess of agriculture. It
was the first asteroid to be
discovered. Ceres is
known as the largest
asteroid ever known. 1 year
on ceres is about 1,682
earth days. It contains only
1.3% mass of the moon.
The
Makemake

Makemake has
one provisional
moon. Its radius
is only about 80
kilometers.
Makemake was
found in 2005.
The
Eris

An Eridian day is just

slightly longer than
the Earth’s day. Eris
was called Xena.
Mass of the Eris is
1.672 × 10^22 kg.
Eris has only one
moon named as
‘Dysnomia’.
