1. Past Future
Simple Tense
Past future tense refers to a time in the past when
the speaker spoke about the future. The first part
referred to as “past future simple tense” involves
the use of certain verbs in a certain tense to
express actions that will occur in the future from
the perspective of a time in the past.
For example, “I would finish the project
by next week,” where “would finish”
indicates a future action from the
perspective of time in the past.
The basic form of the simple past future.
Example: "By 5 PM yesterday, I would
have finished my work."
The past future simple tense formula uses
"would" or "was/were going to" with the
addition of the basic form of the verb. For
example:

I would play football.


She was going to visit her friend.
In the two examples above, "would" and
"was going to" are forms of the past future
simple tense, while the verbs (play, visit)
are in their basic form.
2. Past Future Continuous
Tense:
Past future continuous tense is a form of tense that is used to
express events that are ongoing or happened in the past (past
future continuous). So whatever we are going to do at that time
can be expressed with this tense.
Shows an action in progress at a point in time in the future that has
already passed.
Contoh: "I was going to be studying
when the power went out last night."
The formula for Past Future Continuous
Tense is:
Subject + would/will + have been +
present participle (verb + ing)

Example:
I would have been studying for hours if
the exam had been tomorrow.
She will have been working at the
company for five years by next month.
3. Past Future Perfect Tense:

The definition of past future perfect tense is a tense or sentence


structure that has the main function of expressing ideas in the past.
This idea is in the form of an event that is predicted, planned,
promised, or expected to occur at some time in the future, but seen
from the perspective of the past.
Example: “By the time he arrived at
9 AM yesterday, I would have
already completed the project.”
Past future perfect tense, also known as future perfect in
the past, combines the elements of future, past, and
perfect tense. The formula is:
Subject + would + have + past participle

Example:
I would have finished my homework by now.
She would have completed the project if she had more
time.
This formula shows an action completed in the past
relative to a specific time in the stated future.
4. Past Future Perfect
Continuous Tense:

It is a combination of the perfect and


continuous aspects to show an action
that is taking place in a certain period
of time in the future that has already
passed.
Example: “By midnight yesterday,
I would have been working on
this task for six hours.”
The formula for Past Future Perfect Continuous
Tense is:
Subject + would/should + have + been + present
participle (verb-ing) + Object
Subject+would/should+have+been+present
participle(verb−ing)+Object

Example:
She + would + have + been + studying + English
for five years by next month. She + would + have
+ been + studying + English for five years by next
month.
