Expected Course Outcome
o Explain the current energy scenario and requirement of migration to
renewable energy sources
o Demonstrate the knowledge of various solar thermal energy applications
o Design solar PV systems under stand-alone mode and analyze the
performance of solar cells
o Design a bio-gas digester
o Analyze the performance of wind mills
o Assess the power potential of a given site and choose adequate hydro
turbine
o Explain various methods for harvesting the ocean energy
o Experimentally determine performance of various renewable energy
conversion devices working under different operating conditions

o Quiz – Physical mode in the classroom
o Mid Term/ FAT– QP Pattern will be discussed in the class
o Attendance – will be taken anytime time during the class hours.
Hence, students are advised to come to class at right time. No
consideration of attendance will be entertained.

Quiz – Date may subject to change. The same will be informed well in
advance through mail, or during the class hours.
o Additional Learnings – Will not be considered for this semester as
per the guidelines given by the Dean, Academics (as in VToP).
o Slides/ Study materials – Will be uploaded in VTOP after the
completion of each module. Text/Reference/Additional materials to be
followed for each module and the same will be intimated in the class
itself.
o Guest lectures/ Industrial visits – 2 Industrial/Research guest lectures
and 1 Field/ Industrial visit will be organised related to the subject area.
