Pre-requisites for this module

• Programming in Python
• Data Structures and Algorithms
• Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence

Module Code and Module Title Title of Slides Slide 3 of 18

Aims of this module

• This module will enable the students to

acquire basic understandings of Artificial
Intelligence concepts. Areas to be covered
include top 5 disciplines use in respective
industries. Also, the students will be
facilitated in demonstrating the
understandings through research
algorithms for the applications in their
chosen industry.

Learning outcomes

 At the end of this module, YOU should be able to:

1. Describe the fundamental Artificial Intelligence concepts,

principles, and methods (C2, PLO1)

2. Apply relevant Artificial Intelligence methods to solve

industrial problems (C6, PLO2)

3. Propose an innovative concept using Cooperative Artificial

Intelligence relevant to industry applications (A3,PLO8)

Methods of Delivery

Hence,
• We are now moving from the traditional
topic based teaching to outcome-based
education.

Module Code and Module Title Title of Slides Slide 9 of 18

Outcomes Based Education (OBE)

• OBE is education based on producing

particular educational outcomes that:
Focus on what students can actually do after
they are taught.
Expect all learners/students to successfully
achieve particular (sometimes minimum) level
of knowledge and abilities.

So…What is OBE?

It’s
NOT
What we want to teach,

It’s
What You should learn

Useful Reading

• The Essence of Artificial

Intelligence (Cawsey)
– Good lightweight introductory book
– A good starting point for the course
would be to read Chapter 4 on
search
– This book is at about the level of
the course (in contrast, AIMA is
generally more advanced than this
course)
