1. INFLATION

 Inflation means an increase in the cost of living as the price of goods and
services rise.
 The rate of inflation measures the annual percentage change in the general
price level.
2. ILLITERACY

 Illiteracy is a state whereby one is unable to read and write. In its simplest form, it can be
defined as lack of any or sufficient education.
 Sometimes people who have had very basic education also experience challenges in
reading and writing.
3. POVERTY

 Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and
shelter. However, poverty is more, much more than just not having enough money.
 “Poverty is hunger, lack of shelter. It is being sick and not being able to see a doctor. Poverty is
not having access to school and not knowing how to read. It is not having a job, is fear for the
future, living one day at a time.
4. UNEMPLOYMENT

 The condition of one who is capable of working, actively seeking work, but unable to find any
work. It is important to note that to be considered unemployed a person must be an active
member of the labor force and in search of remunerative work.
 Unemployment is caused by various factors such as; technological change, a decline in the labor
force, and geographical immobility. Effects of unemployment include fluctuating the workforce
makeup, personal stress on the employee, and reducing the overall spending in the country.
5. CHILD LABOUR

 The term “child labour” is often defined as work that deprives children of their
childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and
mental development.
6. ECONOMY

 The economic crisis represents a situation in which the economy of a country passes
through a sudden decrease of its force, decrease usually brought about by a
financial crisis. The economic crisis may have the shape of a stagflation, of a
recession or of an economic depression.
