INFLUENCE LINE IN BEAMS
PROBLEM NO. 14
A beam is shown in the figure.
a. Determine the ordinate of the influence line for the vertical reaction at A
at a point 4m from A.
b. Determine the ordinate of the influence line for shear at C at a point 4m
from A.
b. Determine the ordinate of the influence line for moment at C at a point
4m from A.
INFLUENCE LINE IN BEAMS
PROBLEM NO. 15
A simply supported beam 10m long has a 2m overhang beyond the left
support. A highway uniform load of 9.35kN/m and a concentrated load of
116kN will pass through this beam.
a. Determine the length of the beam over which the uniform load could be
placed to produce maximum positive shear at the midspan.
b. Determine the length of the beam over which the uniform load could be
placed to produce maximum negative shear at the midspan.
c. If the concentrated load is placed at the end of the overhang, determine
the maximum shear at the midspan.
METHOD OF JOINTS & SECTIONS IN TRUSSES
PROBLEM NO. 16
Determine the force in each member of the truss and state if the members
are subjected to compression or tension. P1 = 2kN and P2 = 1.5kN
