What is filter?
Filtering can refer to two different things:
Filtration is the process of separating suspended solid
matter from a liquid or gaseous fluid by causing the latter
to pass through the pores of a membrane, called a filter.
Filtering is a class of signal processing, the defining
feature of filters being the complete or partial
suppression of some aspect of the signal. Most often, this
means removing some frequencies or frequency bands.
