A sentence is a group of words that are put
together to mean something. A sentence is the basic unit
4 of language which expresses a complete thought

Types of sentence formation


A.Simple Sentences 2
A simple sentence contains a subject and a verb, and it may also have
an object and modifiers. However, it contains only one independent clause.
Here are a few examples:

-She wrote.
-She completed her literature review.
-He organized his sources by theme.
4 B.Compound Sentences
A compound sentence contains at least two independent clauses. These two
independent clauses can be combined with a comma and a coordinating
5 conjunction or with a semicolon.
Here are a few examples:
-She completed her literature review, and she created her reference list.

3. Complex Sentence. A complex sentence consists of an

independent clause plus a dependent clause.
Example : We missed our plane because we were late.
4. Compound-Complex Sentence Structure. A compound- 3
complex sentence consists of at least two independent clauses
and one or more dependent clauses.
4 Example : He left in a hurry after he got a phone call
but he came back five minutes later.

A. Independent Clause, Are key parts of every sentence strucur. 2
An Independent Clause has a subject and a predicate and
makes sense on its own as a complete Senense
Example: 3
-They dog ate brownise
-She ate wafel
B. Dependent Clause , is a major part of three of the four 4
sentence structure, (coumpound,complex,and compound-
complex). It has a can’t be a subject and a predikat

- After he went to the play
- If the dog eats choclate

c. Conjuction, is a word in a sentence that connects other
wowrds, phrases and clauses. Conjunctions are a big part of
compound,complex and compound-complex sentence. The 3
most common conjunction that you knoww is “and”. Others are
for,but,or,yet,and so. Conjuction are important
because they let us combine information, but still keep ideals 4
seperate so that they are aeasy to understand.
