Basic Scientific Process Skills
To describe the scientific skills there are various
terminologies being use like scientific method, critical
thinking, and scientific thinking but scientific process
skills term is now commonly used. These process
skills are the basic which means simpler process
which will be the scaffolds of the higher scientific
skills. Below are the following basic scientific process
skills:
1. Observing – in this skill the use of the 5 senses is barely
essential in gather data or collect information to an event or
phenomenon.
2. Measuring – in this skill is use in collecting, gathering,
comparing, and interpreting data with the use of both
standard and nonstandard measurements.
3. Inferring - making an "educated guess" from the
evidence and information rather than giving explicit
explanation.
4. Classifying – in this skill, the process of putting data
and information based on their group, order, categories,
properties, or criteria. It is important that one should know
how to classify to easily comprehend situation accordingly.
5. Predicting – giving possible outcome or scenario in a
future event based on the classified pattern of evidence.
6. Communicating – sharing of experiences to describe an
action, object, or event.
