Karnataka
• Mysore Palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace. It is
located in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The palace is in the
centre of Mysore, and faces the Chamundi Hills eastward.
Mysore is commonly described as the 'City of the Palaces.
The Old Fort was built of wood and thus easily caught fire,
while the current fort was built of stone, bricks and wood. It
is a three-storeyed stone palace with marble domes and has
a 145 ft tall five-storeyed tower. The current structure was
constructed between 1897 and 1912, after the Old Palace
burnt down, the current structure is also known as the New
Fort.
Ladakh
• Leh Palace also known as Lachen Palkar Palace. It was
constructed in 1600 by Sengge Namgyal. It is nine storeys
high; the upper floors accommodated the royal family, while
the lower floors held stables and store rooms. The Palace
Museum holds a rich collection of jewellery, ornaments,
ceremonial dresses and crowns. Tibetan thangka or paintings,
which are more than 450 years old, with intricate designs still
retain the bright colours derived from crushed and powdered
