Hot-seating?

• Asking an actor questions whilst they are in character


Monologue?
• A speech for one person

• Mono = one Logue = speech

• It could be spoken to:


• Another character
• The audience
• Yourself
One person is Eddie
and one person is
Mickey

Task: Monologue

• Write a monologue for your character


• The monologue should explore how you are
feeling and why
• You need to talk about your blood brother and how
they have made you feel: Are you angry? Worried?
Jealous? Confused?
Suggesting Starting Lines:
Eddie:
• “I don’t know what I’ve done wrong…”
• “I’ve got a feeling Mickey and I aren’t friends
anymore…”

Mickey:
• “I lost my temper this evening…”
• “I’ve had just about enough of Edward Lyons!”
Staging your monologue

• Can you use cross-cutting to combine your two


monologue?

• At which moments will you freeze and let your partner take over?
• How will you be positioned on the stage?
• What movements or actions might you be doing?

• Have they used cross-cutting effectively?
