Industrial Robots

-
By- Muhammad Hasan, Asad Shahab and Usman Khan.
Robotics:
• A branch of Computer Science that specializes in, well, robots.
• These robots are much more versatile than regular one-use machines, as they can be
programmed to do different actions.
• Robots can do these actions autonomously or semi-autonomously.

Use of robots in an
industry

• Robots are quite versatile in many

industries, they can perform anything
from extremely delicate procedures to
heavy duty transport.
• Robots can be programmed to do one
task repeatedly (assembly line robots) or
do a whole array of actions (friendly
robots).

• Modern industrial automation includes the use of
data acquisition systems, distributed control
systems, supervisory control and programmable
logic controllers.

How it works:
• These automatic robots are quite consistent, which
makes them reliable for processing raw/organic
materials like, wood, paper, oil etc..
Types of robots:

• Collaborative: Robots that

complete tasks in a human-
esque way
• Traditional: Robots that work
faster and better than humans

• A collaborative robot being used in

medicine --->
Some industries where industrial robots are
used:

• Mechanical cutting, grinding & polishing.

• Material handling.
• Assembly.
• Painting
• Arc & spot welding.
Advantages & Disadvantages:
Advantages: Disadvantages:
• Reduced Operating Costs • High initial investment

• Expertise can be scarce

• Improved Productivity
• Unemployment
• Improved Quality • Ongoing costs

• Highly Flexible

• Increased Safety
The Future of Industrial
Robotics:
As technology continues to advance, these trends should
continue into the future with robotic systems being able to collect
data, monitor processes and troubleshoot any problems.
Robots are already able to use sensors and other data points to
monitor and adapt their movements in real time, mimicking
the skills of a human craftsperson to improve a process and
reduce rework or inspection requirements.
The End, Thank You!
