Course Description
This course provides the detailed instruction and procedures necessary for
repairing and maintaining the SAMES UPside.
During the course you will learn the main components of the UPside,
disassemble the modules, reassemble the modules and perform the
preventive maintenance procedures.

Targets
1. Identified all Upside modules.

2. To know all Upside configuration.
3. Be able to use the Upside configurator.
4. Ro understand the UPside.
5. Know the correct air pressure, air volume and the torque to
properly operate the UPside.
6. Know how to correctly disassemble and reassemble the UPside.
7. Know the preventive maintenance schedule for the UPside.
8. Understand the different Upside process.

Upside modules descriptions

• To built my CCB I need modules:
Ending modules:
Those modules are installed in the
beginning or at the end of a CCB.
Module with or without

recirculation (depends your
needs) : The modules can be used
for the air, the solvent and paint.

• To equipped a module I need:
Valve with an integrated fitting :

This valve is used for all fluids
excepted the 2K.
Valve with an integrated fitting

specific for the 2k

The interior fitting part :

The nipple will determine the
inside hose diameter.
8 possibilities : US and metric.
The exterior fitting part:

The nut will determine the
external hose diameter.
6 possibilities : US and metric.

Full range of rack fitting, internal
diameter 3 to 8mm and 6 to
12mm in external

• To exit the CCB I need:
Module RO :
The RO module is an exit module
(purge or bell cleaning)
Exit block ¼ gas (simple):

This block will hold the tie-rods
and will offer a ¼ gas female exit

• To exit the CCB I need:
Exit block ¼ gas (pump):

This block will hold the tie-rods
and will offer a direct connection
with the pump, it is equipped
with ¼ gas female exit
Switch block (pump):

The switch block is a left right
selector, it will hold the tie-rods
and can exit on a regulator or an
exit block.

• To assemble the modules I need:
Support with pressure screw:

This support will hold the tie-rods,
the possibility to fix the Upside o
the robot and compressed the
modules together. A rail will be
mounted each time we’ve got
more then 8 modules
Tie-rods :
The tie-rods length depend on the
number of modules. The XX is
your needs.

• The paint regulators possibilities :
Regulator UPside – pump

interface:
This regulator is the same as the
previous one but it will be
screwed on the gear pump,
UPside, regulator and pump will
be one set.
Regulator UPside – pump

interface:
This regulator is the same as the
previous one but it can be
equipped of 2 pressure sensors.

• The paint regulators possibilities :
To get an autonomous regulator:

This regulator is equipped with an
entry and exit in ¼ gas female, it
can be install everywhere.
All regulator components are

shown on the RT 7102.

Double circuits Kit :

This system will be used for all
double circuit application. In this
case we need less then 5seconds
to change color.

Caught bubble :
This system offer you the
possibility to lock the bubble in
the hose, to avoid some
pulsations during spraying in
special cases (arm below the gun).

4.1 Filling
What ever the process the filling will be

the same, only the switch will do the
difference..

4.2 Filling to 2K
The 2K system got the particularity of not having any

dump. The filling and the cleaning will be done by the
same way. We will found a solvent supply on the PV 42
and air and solvent on the PV 41.

5.1 Standart cleaning

Cleaning process:
The cleaning will be executed from the
Upside beginning, it will alternately open
and close the solvent and air trough all
elements up to the PV 41 then the
atomizer.

5.2 Reverse cleaning
Cleaning process:
The cleaning way will be in the opposite
as the pervious one, the circuit cleaning
start from the PV 41, then go to the dump
line . This system allows to keep the hose
41 like new, only air and solvent are going
through.

5.3 Rinçage reverse flush

Cleaning process:
This system is used when we got a long
length of hose, by cutting the circuit in
two we will reduce the pressure loss, and
save time and product.

be use any time during the cleaning or
color changing.

7 Mounting dismantling
• Installation of UPside fitting and hose on UPside CCV module:
Place the nipple equipped with its O-ring on the tool

(Ref.: 900010965).
Screw the nipple into the module with a tightening torque

of 18N.m.

Put the hose until it stops on the first shoulder into

the tool (P/N # 910015840) and do a reference mark.
Place the nut of the fitting on the hose.
Coat with dough PTFE (P/N # H2CPAL081) the

hose on a 2 cm length.
It is imperative not to cover the mark.

• Hose installation on module:
Push the hose in the block up to the mark
Screw the nut of the fitting with tool

(P/N910018362) with a torque of 11
N.m.

8 Maintenance
• Change a module:
Remove the hose from the module. With a 5mm Allen wrench
remove the pressure screw until you can remove the module.
Put the new module in, tight the screw at 9N.m, and put
back the hoses.

• Change the module gasket:
Extraction
Open the tool in 2 parts (careful gasket inside).
Ref.: 910015840.
Mounting
Extract the gasket with the extractor.
IMPORTANT : After each extraction, change the gasket

• Change the module gasket:
Put the new gasket on the tool, then introduce it inside the module up
to his seat.

• Change a valve:
Use the tool (Ref.: 910013686), the tool goes over the valve
then unscrew the valve.
In case of the valve is to hard to unscrew (torque will slip), use

a 4mm Allen wrench from the tool top.

• Change a valve:
Insert the new valve inside the tool.
Screw the valve inside the module, by using the black parts you will
reach the right torque.
IMPORTANT : It’s important to use the tool to reach the right

torque .

• Change a fitting:
Remove the nut with the SAMES tool (Ref.:910018362).
Remove the nipple with the extractor (Ref.:910018362).

• Change a fitting:
Nipple removed from the module..
With a pliers remove the nipple from the extractor, after throw
the nipple and the O-ring in the trash.

• Paint regulator:
Unlock and remove the nut with the appropriated tool

(Ref.: 546351) .
Remove gently the diaphragm from the regulator or the nuts

(depends where it will be stock).

Remove the ball seat with a 4mm Allen wrench.
Remove the ball with a small pliers.
IMPORTANT : Change the O-ring after each ball seat

opening.

IMPORTANT : Whenever you dismantled the paint

regulator, you have to clean all components with solvent
moistened rag then dry it with compressed air.
IMPORTANT : Control the diaphragm and change it if necessary
For assembly: in reverse order :

• Tighten the ball seat at 8 N.m.
• Tighten the regulator nut at 18 N.m
Use the tool (Ref.: 1403479) and a dynamometric wrench

• Hold the brass nut with a 19mm wrench.

• Unscrew the diaphragm pusher with a 4mm Allen wrench.
Remove the diaphragm.
• To reassemble, proceed in opposite way:

Install the diaphragm on the diaphragm pusher . Position the washer

on it. Position the black washer (flat side on diaphragm). tightening
Compressed the assembly with a torque of 10 N.m nut
